Originally from Reus, he has been living in Barcelona for years.
Born into a family of architects, he set aside the family tradition for a career that would also allow him to explore his creativity.
He decided to study at the Escuela Superior de Cine y Audiovisuales de Cataluña (ESCAC), from which he graduated with the documentary Pura (1999) after receiving a scholarship for a six-month stay at the Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore.
On his return, he worked with Guillermo del Toro on The Devil’s Backbone (2001) and with fellow ESCAC student Juan Antonio Bayona on his various short films and then on The Orphanage (2007). He then moved to the United States, where he furthered his post-production training at New York University and, from there, travelled to London, where he worked as a sound editor.
On his return to Barcelona, he founded his own studio and began to collaborate with directors such as Jaume Balagueró, Kike Maíllo, Denis Villeneuve and Daniel Monzón, as well as in the following releases by Juan Antonio Bayona. He has designed the sound for a multitude of Spanish and international feature films, such as [Rec] (2007), Lo imposible (2012) or El Niño (2014), Enemy , Crimson Peak, Penny Dreadfull, Jurassic World the Fallen Kingdom, La sociedad de la nieve, has received six Goya awards, eight Gaudí and two Golden Reel for (The Orphanage), (The Snow Society) and another nomination (for Penny Dreadfull) from the MPSE (American Association of Sound Editors). He has also received the award for Best European Sound Designer 2017 by the European Film Academy.
He currently combines his work in sound post-production, from his studio Coser y Cantar, with teaching at ESCAC and other faculties of the University of Barcelona.
He is member of the Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas of Spain, the European Film Academy, the Motion Picture Sound Editors and the Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences of the United States (Academy of Hollywood) and he is also involved in other projects in studios in the United States,
